How can I schedule a visit to MiHaven student living property?

Yes, please email us at studentliving@mihaven.com.au and arrange a time for one of our team to show you the residences.

How many beds do you have?

We have 42 beds at Pembroke Street and 42 beds at Gatton St

Can I live there regardless of where I’m studying?

Yes, you will need to provide proof of enrolment.

What will be my postal address?

Depending on which location you have chosen your address will either be:

Services

What if I arrive late at night?

No worries, please advise our staff of your expected time of arrival and we will ensure we are at the apartment to meet you.

Can you arrange my airport pick-ups?

Absolutely. We can arrange airport pick-ups for you. Just email us your details at studentliving@mihaven.com.au and we will arrange. We will advise you of the cost of the pick up at the time of the booking.

Will I be able to meet other people?

We have an extensive social calendar full of events organised by our Student Living Ambassadors. Some of our events include tours, cultural tours, sporting events, to name a few. You will have many opportunities to meet other like-minded students from across the globe.

Do you prepare my meals?

Each apartment is fitted with kitchen facilities to allow you to cook for yourself to your own schedule and culinary needs. There are no catered options available, but several food outlets are located a short distance and we frequently organise food nights as part of our community engagement program.

Rooms

What types of rooms do you have?

All bedrooms have a king single bed, private bathroom & toilet, study desk and chair, single wardrobe and are individually air-conditioned.

6 upstairs bedrooms also have a balcony, whilst the ground floor accessibility bedroom for students with mobility issues (no balcony, no steps, larger open bathroom).

If I have a medical condition and I use a wheelchair do you have accessible rooms?

We have wheelchair accessible rooms and we’ll work together to ensure you are comfortable and at home.

What do I need to bring with me?

Your clothing, bedding and any personal items you wish to bring. If you want to travel light you can purchase a MiKit which has bedding, kitchen and the essentials starter pack so there’s no need to bring anything big with you.

Inclusions

What do you offer?

All of our apartment types are fully furnished and air-conditioned. Each room has a king single bed, study desk, side table + lamp and a wardrobe plus you have your own ensuite and private balcony.  You will have the opportunity to live in the inner city suburb of Parramatta Park, enjoying access to free unlimited WiFi internet, communal facilities such as kitchens and BBQ areas, laundry + secure bike storage  and high-level security features.

What internet options do I have at Student Living?

Free unlimited high speed internet is available throughout all MiHaven Student Living properties for you to use.

Are water, gas and electricity included in my rent?

Yes, all utilities including water, gas and electricity are included in your rent.

Facilities

Do you have a laundry room?

Yes we have onsite laundry facilities – each wash and each dry will cost $5 each – payable by pay pass machine (visa or mastercard credit or debit cards only)

What else do you have on the premises?

We have BBQ facilities and outdoor entertaining areas so you can enjoy living in the tropics.  There is secure bike storage and limited secure car parking spaces.

How do I make a booking?

What are the rates?

Our rates vary depending on the type of living solution you are seeking. To see our most up-to-date rates and room availability, visit the rates page.

How often do I need to pay rent?

Rent is paid fortnightly in advance, with the exception of a 4-week contract where full payment is taken prior to your arrival. We will provide you with a rent schedule so you can plan for each of the rent payments.

How do I pay for my rent?

A deposit request will be sent out to you and payment can be made by direct deposit to secure your place at MiHaven Student Living.

Are the rental rates shown as per person or per apartment?

Your rental rate is per person, per week for all rooms.

Do I need to pay a bond?

Yes, you will be required to pay a bond which will be forwarded to the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA). This is used as a security payment in the event of any damage, rental arrears or cleaning to the property is required upon your departure. If the apartment is left in an acceptable condition and your rent is paid up to date, then the bond will be returned in full.

Will I be bound by any residency rules?

Yes, you will be provided with a copy of the Residence Rules as part of your offer. Each MiHaven Student Living resident is required to follow our Residence Rules.

What happens if I damage or break something?

If you damage or break any of our property then you will be required to pay for the repair or replacement. You will be given notice of this charge and it will be charged to your account. In the event items are damaged when you move out, the cost of repair/replacement will be deducted from your bond payment. If this amount exceeds the amount taken as bond, you will be required to pay any outstanding fees. If there is damage caused by multiple residents, then the cost to fix the damage will be divided between you and the others involved.

Can I check in after the agreement start date?

Yes, however your rent starts from the date of your tenancy agreement, whether or not you have checked in.

If I don’t like the property what is the refund process?

You are bound by the Residential Tenancies Agreement. MiHaven Student Living will endeavour to work out any issues with you within the guidelines set out by the Agreement.

 

If I pay the deposit and my visa is denied, will I get any refund?

MiHaven Student Living management will review your individual circumstance in order to determine the most appropriate outcome. If you notify us prior to 14 days before the start of the agreement then all rent paid will be refunded.

Will the price of my rent increase?

Your rent will not increase for the term of your contract however, all future pricing will be assessed each year.

Can I stay with you for less than six months?

MiHaven Student Living offers Cairns  most flexible living solutions, so we can tailor your contract length to as little as four weeks.

Can I stay longer than 12 months?

Yes, before your current contract has ended, you will be offered the opportunity to extend your stay.

Can I live there if I’m under 18?

We are considering applications from all tertiary and vocational students, with approvals given on a case by case basis.

Can I live there if I’m on a working holiday visa even if I can prove I’m studying?

Yes we welcome all students, as long as you can provide a proof of study enrolment.

Can I choose who I live with?

Yes, if you have a friend who also wants to stay at MiHaven Student Living and you would like to live together then you are both able to make the request or email us at studentliving@mihaven.com.au so we can assist with your query.

If I want to host a visitor, can they stay with me at MiHaven Student Living?

You are permitted to have visitors; however they must leave the premises by 10pm. We pride ourselves on providing a secure + safe haven therefore no visitors are permitted to stay overnight.

Can I have a pet?

No, pets are not permitted on the property.
